Eva won the Student Journalist of the Year award in May after founding and running the first student paper at Dundee University in 30 years, The Jute Journal. A journalist and photographer, her reporting focuses on higher education, current affairs, arts, and culture. She also writes gig and album reviews for The Wee Review. Eva recently graduated with a first-class MA in English and Philosophy and is a recipient of Dundee University's Wimberly Award.

Petitions Mount to Stop Proposed Cuts at Dundee University

Petitions and action to stop the closure of beloved institutions and crucial programmes have begun to surface. This comes after Dundee University announced measures to save £20m annually. The following petitions are now live: “Save Dundee Botanics and Cafe” One supporter of the petition said: “As a family we have been going to the Botties (as we call it) for 30+ years. It is a wonderful place of genuine peace (despite Riverside and the Airport).

EXCLUSIVE: Mathematics Course May be Axed

It has been confirmed that alongside Philosophy and Languages, Mathematics courses may close. Maths at Dundee is ranked 4th in Scotland. This means that students coming to study maths in September will be the last intake, and the course will be carried out until completion in 2030, then it will be cut. These plans will go ahead if an alternative cannot be found within a 45-day consultation period that began on Tuesday.

EXCLUSIVE: Cooper Gallery Closure Proposed as DJCAD Staffing and Resource Strains Persist.

Dundee Universirty has proposed the closure of Cooper Gallery by July 2027 as part of further major restructuring. Designed in 1953 by architect James Wallace, the gallery is a unique space for exhibitions and events. Its proposed closure is part of wider cuts across the university, in a bid to to reduce spending by £20 million.
