Writing Letters: A Spiritual Practice
Looking for a new practice to calm the mind and connect with others? Try writing an old-fashioned letter. Every day our senses and brains endure a digital onslaught—not just from being held captive by smartphones but also email conversation purgatory, inbox overwhelm, and screen fatigue. Think back to when your smartphone did not ping you with every package delivery.
Release Shame With Vedic Sexuality
Allow yourself to become spiritually shameless. Submerge yourself in “an ocean of ever-expanding spiritual pleasure” as you explore Vedic sexuality. Human sexuality must be made less important than it is currently in spiritual circles. By denying it, hiding it, and suppressing it, we have made it far more important in a deviant sort of way.
Islands, Waves, Anchors: Why Your Attachment…
How do you attach to others? Discover attachment styles and why they matter. Some couples are attached like Velcro, with partners being inseparable. Other couples are content sharing space without need of interaction. And many couples fall somewhere between. Have you ever thought about how you and your partner connect and how your connection affects your relationship?
Left and Right Handed Journaling
When I was in my early twenties I went to see a psychic. He said I was so full of creative energy that I either needed to start writing books or I was going to start having babies. As a young, unwed woman, I panicked and went straight from his office to the nearest bookstore. I knew absolutely nothing about writing except that I had gotten a “C” in creative writing in college. And, worse yet, at this point in time I really didn’t think I had anything to say.
What Is an Empath?
KatarzynaBialasiewicz/Thinkstock Do you find yourself crying for no reason? Curled in the fetal position and averting your eyes while watching a fight on TV? You may be an empath. Learn what an empath is and how to thrive in your life and relationships. The other day, a man stepped into the street, and I stopped my car so he could cross. Suddenly, I felt the overwhelming urge to cry for no apparent reason. Then I looked more closely at the man walking just feet away from me.
10 Romantic Love Habits
Valentine’s Day stirs up the concept of romance, but what, exactly is it and how do we create it? Webster’s defines romance as “a tendency of mind toward the wonderful and mysterious, something belonging rather to fiction than to everyday life.” But, does it really have to be more like fiction? And, do we really only want one day dedicated to it? When we keep doing things the exact same way, relationships become predictable, routine, and sometimes disenchanting.
10 Ways to Avoid Drama Burnout
AntonioGuillem/Thinkstock Find ways to take a break from overwhelming situations. I found myself sighing heavily the other day, feeling bogged down and overwhelmed. So I took a quick inventory of the list including finances, health, relationship, family, friendships, and spiritual life. While there are things that could improve in every category, nothing was actually wrong in my own life. Everywhere I looked around me, however, was a mess.

The Crowded Labyrinth: Mastering Relationships on the Labyrinthine Path
The labyrinth can be a tool for working on relationships, and walking a labyrinth with other people can be a powerful way to understand how you relate to others. I have been offering full-moon labyrinth walks on Maui for more than twenty years.
The Labyrinth as a Walking Meditation
Meditation can be frustrating, with physical discomfort and constant, intrusive thoughts. Walking a labyrinth can be a wonderful walking meditation. Walking into the Present Moment When most people first attempt to practice meditation in a traditional sitting position, the first thing they notice is the flood of thoughts that suddenly engulf them as they desperately try to quiet the mind. Discomfort in the body is often followed immediately thereafter.
A Pilgrimage: Making Sense of a Labyrinth Walk
When a labyrinth is walked with even a small amount of direction, it becomes a powerful field for self-discovery, transformation, spiritual deepening, processing grief, relieving stress, and finding clarity. Editor's note: This is the first of five articles on labyrinths. The author, Eve Hogan, has facilitated labyrinth walks for more than 20 years and is a keynote speaker at the 2019 Labyrinth Society Gathering. She is the author of Way of the Winding Path: A Map for the Labyrinth of Life.
3 Ways to Repair and Rebuild Your Relationships
When trying to repair a relationship — even with yourself — take these intentional steps. In my last blog, I shared the five stages of relationship demise that we tend to unintentionally engage in when we encounter challenges in our relationships. The good news is that there is an alternative.
3 Practices for Loving Fully in the Face of Loss
When dealing with impending death or loss, it can be challenging to stay fully engaged while preparing your heart at the same time. Does allowing ourselves to fully feel open us to even more hurt and suffering, or is feeling the experience the very thing that moves it through without getting stuck in our bodies, only to have to grapple with it later?
Creativity as a Relationship Skill
When most of us think of creativity, we think of some artistic endeavor that may include artwork, music, performances or even fashion and design. Few of us think of creativity as a primary and critical relationship skill. However, in my years of experience working with people in building healthier relationships with themselves, others and with Spirit, creativity constantly rises to the top.
Managing the Invisible Space in Relationships
We have all experienced the impact of our words and actions in relationships. When we say something mean or snarky, people tend to react with either a return attack or defensiveness. What we tend to be far less aware of is the power of the energy we are holding when we say and do things.
Finding the Right Time to Break Up
I was recently coaching a couple in which the woman was clear she wanted to break up but the man, although he had plenty of red flags and deep concerns, was not so convinced. He kept thinking they might be able to salvage the relationship. My normal intent is always to teach skills and tools so that people can, indeed, stay together. However, in this case, they had some insurmountable issues.

Back to Reality: Forget These 5 Relationship Illusions
We’ve all done it. We have blamed our boyfriend, girlfriend, lover or spouse for our state of happiness, or perhaps more accurately, our unhappiness. We tend to look outside of ourselves for the cause of our problems, and thus, we seek outside of ourselves for solutions. The problem with this approach to relationship repair is that we can begin thinking we are not capable of creating change in our lives. Ultimately, we hand our happiness over to someone else to manage.
3 Signs You're In an Ego Battleship Instead of a Relationship
Would you ask your poorest friend for financial advice? While they may be well intentioned, they likely don’t have the skills to make good suggestions when it comes to money. Instead, you would likely turn to higher source of reliable information, someone whose financial decisions you admire. However, when it comes to love, we turn to our egos to make the decisions, rather than our spirits. The problem with this is that the ego doesn’t have any relationship skills.
