(JNS) If you want to understand the true obstacle to Mideast peace, look no further than the Jordanian parliament’s unanimous approval last week of a bill to ban natural-gas imports from Israel, just days after the gas began arriving. Energy-poor Jordan needs a stable, affordable fuel supply, which the Israeli deal provides. In short, the deal would let the kingdom redirect significant amounts of money to some of its other crying needs. But that doesn’t interest Jordanian lawmakers.

She was born September 1, 1938, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John J. and Loretta Ann Fink Spratt. Prior to moving to Aleppo in 1989, Mrs. Jordan lived in Pittsburgh for her entire life. She was a 1956 graduate of St. Justin High School in Pittsburgh. Mrs. Jordan enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and the time she was able to spend with her family and grandchildren. She was a telephone operator for the former Bell Telephone Co. in Pittsburgh.
