6 New Delhi, Aug 31: The government on Monday notified all six pillars of Semicon 2.0, seeking to expand India’s semiconductor capabilities across chip design, manufacturing, packaging, equipment, research and talent development, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. Addressing the media, Vaishnaw said India had developed 85,000 semiconductor engineers in just four years, achieving in four years a target originally set for a decade.
Fiscal deficit hits 26.8% of FY27 target by July as capex accelerates
1 New Delhi, Aug 31: India’s fiscal deficit rose to ₹4.55 lakh crore by July, accounting for 26.8% of the full-year target of ₹16.96 lakh crore, even as strong tax and non-tax receipts helped keep the government’s finances broadly on track. The deficit utilisation was 29.9% in the year-ago period. However, it rose sharply from 18.2% at the end of June as government spending outpaced receipts, according to the latest monthly accounts released by the Finance Ministry on Monday.
