Conservation Tillage Trade-Offs Are Real but Context-Dependent: A Global Perspective on Subsoil Management
We thank Kan et al. (2026) for their Letter on our paper (Zhang et al. 2026). Their 15-year conservation deep tillage (CDT) experiment (see also Kan et al. 2025)provides insights into alleviating subsoil constraints. Here we clarify that CDT is promising but largely context-dependent, as illustrated by data comparisons between our global synthesis and their site-specific results. 1 Global Synthesis Versus Single-Site Experiment Kan et al.

Structural and molecular basis of PCNA-activated FAN1 nuclease function in DNA repair - Nature Communications
Abstract FAN1 is a DNA dependent nuclease whose proper function is essential for maintaining human health. For example, a genetic variant in FAN1, Arg507 to His hastens onset of Huntington’s disease, a repeat expansion disorder for which there is no cure. How the Arg507His mutation affects FAN1 structure and enzymatic function is unknown.
Strengthening core-region hydrogen-bond networks and rigidifying surface loop to enhance thermostability of an (R)-selective transaminase converting chiral hydroxyl amines
Transaminase (TA) is a pyridoxal-5′-phosphate (PLP)-dependent enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of amino group from an amino donor to ketones or aldehydes. It has been used for the synthesis of high-value agrochemical, pharmaceutical and fine chemical compounds (Slabu et al., 2017, Solano et al., 2012, Albarrán Velo et al., 2018, Yang and Ding, 2014, Hoehne et al., 2008).

Subpolar North Atlantic western boundary density anomalies and the Meridional Overturning Circulation
Abstract Changes in the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation, which have the potential to drive societally-important climate impacts, have traditionally been linked to the strength of deep water formation in the subpolar North Atlantic. Yet there is neither clear observational evidence nor agreement among models about how changes in deep water formation influence overturning.

H3K9 methyltransferases and demethylases control lung tumor-propagating cells and lung cancer progression
G9a/Glp inhibition drives cells towards the TPC phenotype To determine which molecular pathways regulate lung adenocarcinoma TPCs, we tested a library of stem cell-regulating small molecules (Table 1). We screened a TPC-like cell line, CK17502, for changes in the surface antigens Sca-1 and CD24, reasoning that changes in these markers could correspond to changes in TPC activity. Multiple compounds increased the levels of at least one TPC antigen (Fig. 1a, Supplementary Fig.

Serological evidence for the co-circulation of two lineages of influenza D viruses in equine populations of the Midwest United States
Influenza D virus (IDV) is a newly described influenza type of the Orthomyxoviridae virus family that was first isolated from diseased swine in 2011 and has subsequently been detected in cattle around the world in 2014. In addition, serological evidence for IDV infection in humans has been recently established. Despite all the progress, the full range of susceptible hosts for this novel virus has yet to be determined, but includes swine, bovine, small ruminants and human.

The inflammasome as a target for pain therapy
The interleukin-1 family of cytokines are potent inducers of inflammation and pain. Proteolytic activation of this family of cytokines is under the control of several innate immune receptors that coordinate to form large multiprotein signalling platforms, termed inflammasomes. Recent evidence suggests that a wide range of inflammatory diseases, cancers, and metabolic and autoimmune disorders, in which pain is a common complaint, may be coordinated by inflammasomes.
Calpain-activated mTORC2/Akt pathway mediates airway smooth muscle remodelling in asthma
Allergic asthma is characterized by inflammation and airway remodelling. Airway remodelling with excessive deposition of extracellular matrix (ECM) and larger smooth muscle mass are correlated with increased airway responsiveness and asthma severity. Calpain is a family of calcium-dependent endopeptidases, which plays an important role in ECM remodelling. However, the role of calpain in airway smooth muscle remodelling remains unknown.
Psychosocial predictors and moderators of weight management programme outcomes in ethnically diverse obese youth
An important area of research in childhood obesity is the identification of factors that predict or moderate the responses to obesity intervention programmes, yet few studies have examined the impact of self-esteem and family functioning on obesity treatment outcomes. We sought to determine whether baseline self-esteem and family functioning predicted or moderated childhood obesity intervention outcomes at 6?months.
P-193Significance of monitoring imatinib concentration in Gastrointestinal Stromal tumor patients
P-193Significance of monitoring imatinib concentration in Gastrointestinal Stromal tumor patients Introduction: Imatinib mesylate is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used as first-line treatment in Philadelphia chromosome–positive chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) for imatinib has been suggested to improve efficacy, assess complication and evaluate drug–drug interactions in CML. However, little is known in the era of GIST.
