1930s. From Tara Devi to Maharani Tara Devi

Despite not being from royal lineage, Tara Devi acclimatised pretty well to the royal ways of living after her marriage with Maharaja Hari Singh in the year 1928. Maharani was simple, soft and loving, but was known for smashing the social evils. She would conduct self-defence training for girls, and contributed to Maharaja’s endeavour against the casteism in her own ways. Seen here is Maharani Tara Devi with a bunch of birds she hunted.

Land Grants 2022: Revenue Secretary Vijay Bidhuri explains 10 things

JAMMU: As the confusion and concerns deepen within the Opposition and various stakeholders, Vijay Bidhuri, the administrative head of the Revenue Department has asserted that the new Land Grant Rules-2022 are in the interest of Jammu and Kashmir and its people. As political parties found the new rules against locals, and ‘not without motives’, Bidhuri said the only motive was to enhance government revenue, and that the local interest had been kept intact.

JAMMU: As the Jammu and Kashmir government gears up to execute its mega anti-encroachment drive, targeting retrieval of State land including Roshni and Kahcharai by the end of January 2023, the poor citizens of the union territory who have their houses and shops on small pieces of land are not on its priority list.
