Tumor specific ICNs of individual tumors underlie the heterogeneous tumor microenvironments of HNSCC While an ICN trained at the tumor cohort level provides a working hypothesis of the general causal relationships among transcriptomic processes, it does not capture the idiosyncratic characteristics of intercellular communications of individual tumors, which we conjecture underlie the diverse TMEs, as shown in Fig 3.
