FEBS Press is happy to announce a new partnership with Dryad, a community-based, not-for-profit open data publishing platform that enables curation, open sharing, and reuse of research data. As a firm advocate for open science, FEBS Press expects data supporting the results in a published paper to be archived in an appropriate public repository. By integrating Dryad in the submission system of our journals, we aim to facilitate this process for our authors.

“Συν Αθηνά και χείρα κίνει”. This Greek proverb roughly translates to “move your hands and Athena will help”. It stems from an Aesop myth about a shipwrecked man who was praying to the Greek goddess Athena for help instead of swimming. Another passenger told him “move your hands, don’t just pray to Athena” – highlighting we are all responsible for putting in the effort to make things happen for us (and maybe additional help will come).

The German Stem Cell Network (GSCN)  has awarded the 2023 Publication of the Year to Ruzhica Bogeska (first author) and Michael D. Milson (corresponding author) of the Division of Experimental Hematology, German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) and HI-STEM for their paper Inflammatory exposure drives long-lived impairment of hematopoietic stem cell self-renewal activity and accelerated aging published in the journal Cell Stem Cell in August 2022.
