Abstract Guidelines continue to recommend intravenous thrombolysis before endovascular thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke due to large-vessel occlusion. Its added benefit remains debated. This meta-analysis investigated whether bridging therapy with systemic thrombolytics improves functional independence compared with thrombectomy treatment alone.

Introduction Elevated blood pressure (BP) is regarded as a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality worldwide [1, 2]. A comprehensive meta-analysis determined that lowering systolic BP (SBP) by 5 mm Hg, regardless of baseline BP, may decrease the risk of major cardiovascular events by approximately 10% [3].
