Pan-genome-based resequencing of 2,320 accessions reveals structural variations and accelerates breeding advances in cultivated peanut
|
Abstract The cultivated peanut is a crucial global legume crop that is essential for food security and nutrition, particularly in developing regions. However, its limited genetic variation hampers breeding progress and yield improvement. Here we constructed a graph-based pan-genome for peanut, incorporating 14 genomes that represent all 6 peanut varieties.

Altered Evening Aperiodic Activity and Microstate Dynamics in Insomnia Disorder: An OPM MEG Study
1 Introduction Insomnia disorder (ID) constitutes a major public health concern, with recent systematic analyses estimating a global prevalence of approximately 16.2% among adults [1, 2]. Beyond reduced sleep duration, ID is increasingly conceptualized as a condition of persistent 24-h hyperarousal, characterized by sustained activation of cortical, autonomic, and affective systems across the sleep–wake cycle [2, 3].
Evolution and precision trends of pancreaticojejunostomy in pancreaticoduodenectomy
Abstract Pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant tumor associated with a generally poor prognosis. Pancreaticoduodenectomy remains the only potentially curative surgical treatment for pancreatic head and periampullary cancers. As the core step of Pancreaticoduodenectomy, pancreaticojejunostomy is directly associated with postoperative complications, particularly postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF), which significantly impacts patient outcomes.
Intrinsic DNA codes govern distinct modes of nucleosome-transcription factor interactions
Abstract The interplay between transcription factors (TFs) and nucleosomes is central to gene regulation, yet most studies adopt a protein-centric perspective that largely overlooks DNA sequence contributions. Here, we identify four distinct nucleosomal DNA classes, including the canonical WW/SS pattern (W = A/T, S = G/C). All four nucleosome types are widespread across the human genome both in vivo and in vitro.
Low threshold two-photon-pumped amplified spontaneous emission in thermally nanoimprinted MAPb 0.2 Sn 0.8 I 3 thin films
Two-photon pumped lasers are pivotal for upconversion devices and nonlinear photonics, yet the realization of stable, high-gain media remains a significant challenge. Here, a thermal nanoimprint strategy to optimize MAPb0.2Sn0.8I3 perovskite films, while achieving simultaneous defect passivation and structural stability, is reported.
Root wounds facilitate the uptake of microplastics in crop plants - Nature Communications
Abstract Microplastics can be absorbed by plant roots and enter the food chain. Throughout the plant life cycle, roots frequently encounter various physical injuries. However, whether these prevalent injuries serve as critical pathways for microplastics entry into plants remains unknown. Here, we demonstrate that both shallowly wounded roots (injuries limited to the cortex) and unwounded roots exhibit effective resistance to the penetration of microplastics.
Arboviruses manipulate rice’s volatile emissions, protecting insect vectors from natural enemies in the field
Abstract Vector-borne plant viruses depend on insect vectors for transmission and often suppress host defenses that limit vector survival and spread. However, their impact on volatile-mediated indirect defenses remains unclear. Here, we show that rice viruses inhibit methyl salicylate (MeSA) emission, impairing parasitoid recruitment and promoting vector persistence.
Reduced global BOLD-CSF coupling in chronic kidney disease-related cognitive impairment: a resting-state functional MRI study
ORIGINAL RESEARCH article Volume 16 - 2025 | https://doi.org/10.3389/fneur.2025.1738198 1 Introduction Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant public health burden worldwide, with increasing prevalence every year owing to the growing rate of risk factors such as obesity and diabetes (1). An estimated 9% of the global population has CKD of varying severity (2).

NHANES is a cross-sectional survey conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). It is designed using stratified, multistage probability sampling to provide a reliable assessment of the nutritional and health status of the population in the U.S. [20]. The NCHS Ethics Review Board approved the NHANES study, and all participants provided written informed consent. The study’s data was obtained from six cycles of NHANES, spanning from 1999 to 2006 and 2011 to 2014.

RH3 enhances antiviral defense by facilitating small RNA loading into Argonaute 2 at endoplasmic reticulum–chloroplast membrane contact sites - Nature Communications
Abstract While RNA silencing is crucial for plant resistance against viruses, the cellular connections between RNA silencing and antiviral responses in plants remain poorly understood. In this study, we aim to investigate this relationship by examining the subcellular localization of small RNA loading and viral replication in Arabidopsis.

Porous Aromatic Frameworks Enabling Polyiodide Confinement toward High Capacity and Long Lifespan Zinc-Iodine Batteries
Aqueous zinc–iodine batteries (AZIBs) are attracting increasing attention because of their high safety and abundance of resources. However, the performance of AZIBs is compromised by inadequate confinement of soluble polyiodides, the undesired shuttle effect, and slow reaction kinetics.
Histone N-tails modulate sequence-specific positioning of nucleosomes
Abstract The precise mechanisms governing sequence-dependent positioning of nucleosomes on DNA remain unknown in detail. Existing algorithms, taking into account the sequence-dependent deformability of DNA and its interactions with the histone globular domains, predict rotational setting of only 65% of human nucleosomes mapped in vivo. To uncover novel factors responsible for the nucleosome positioning, we analyzed potential involvement of the histone N-tails in this process.

Molecular basis of methyl-salicylate-mediated plant airborne defence - Nature
Abstract Aphids transmit viruses and are destructive crop pests1. Plants that have been attacked by aphids release volatile compounds to elicit airborne defence (AD) in neighbouring plants2,3,4,5. However, the mechanism underlying AD is unclear. Here we reveal that methyl-salicylate (MeSA), salicylic acid-binding protein-2 (SABP2), the transcription factor NAC2 and salicylic acid-carboxylmethyltransferase-1 (SAMT1) form a signalling circuit to mediate AD against aphids and viruses.

Toxicological Study on Chiral Fluoxetine Exposure to Adult Zebrafish (Danio rerio): Enantioselective and Sexual Mechanism on Disruption of the Brain Serotonergic System
The increasing number of people with depression worldwide has led to concerns regarding antidepressant contamination in aquatic environments, which could have the risk of negative effects on aquatic organisms. Chirality increases its toxicity potentials. Accordingly, we investigated the negative effects of racemic (rac-), R-, and S-FX at environmental levels (100 ng/L) on the brain serotonergic system in zebrafish (Danio rerio) for 42 days.

Enantioselective Toxicity in Adult Zebrafish (Danio rerio) Induced by Chiral PCB91 through Multiple Pathways
This study aimed to further investigate the toxic mechanism of chiral polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) 91 in adult zebrafish (Danio rerio) exposed to racemic (rac-), (+)-, or (−)-PCB91 for 63 days. The enantioselective mortalities of adult zebrafish exposed to rac-/(+)-/(−)-PCB91 were 95.86, 50.08, and 81.50%, respectively.
Chiral PCB 91 and 149 Toxicity Testing in Embryo and Larvae (Danio rerio): Application of Targeted Metabolomics via UPLC-MS/MS
Metabolomics in combination with PCA and PLS-DA enables us to not only detect the targeted metabolites but also to discover unique metabolites and thus generate new hypotheses because the change in the metabolites is directly combined with the phenotype30. According to the results in Figs 3 and 4, most of the unique metabolites in the embryos and larvae after PCB91/149 exposure were amino acids.
