Urban shrinkage vs heritage protection: exploring the dilemma and promotion path of built heritage protection under urban decline
Abstract Globally, cultural heritage renewal has become an important strategy for promoting economic development. However, against the background of persistent urban shrinkage, built heritage conservation faces severe challenges.
Routine blood tests and machine learning identify complications in high myopia
Abstract High myopia can lead to cataract, glaucoma, retinal detachment, choroidal neovascularisation, and macular degeneration, causing irreversible vision loss. Imaging detects these complications, but population screening is limited by equipment, and specialist availability. Here we show that a machine learning model using routine blood test results identifies people at increased risk of complications related to high myopia during standard health examinations.
A thiol-selective and acid-stable protein modification strategy using an electron-deficient yne reagent
A thiol-selective and acid-stable protein modification strategy using an electron-deficient yne reagent† A protein modification strategy was developed based on a thiol–yne click reaction using an electron-deficient yne reagent. This approach demonstrated exceptional selectivity towards thiols and exhibited rapid kinetics, resulting in conjugates with superior acid stability. The conjugation of IgG with an indole-derived fluorophore was achieved for the imaging of PD-L1 in cancer cells.
Tunable Pt-NiO interaction-induced efficient electrocatalytic water oxidation and methanol oxidation
Tunable Pt-NiO interaction-induced efficient electrocatalytic water oxidation and methanol oxidation Metal-support interaction engineering is considered an efficient strategy for optimizing the catalytic activity. Nevertheless, the fine regulation of metal-support interactions as well as understanding the corresponding catalytic mechanisms (particularly those of non-carbon support-based counterparts) remains challenging.

Xanthene-Based Near-Infrared Chromophores for High-Contrast Fluorescence and Photoacoustic Imaging of Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4
Xanthene-Based Near-Infrared Chromophores for High-Contrast Fluorescence and Photoacoustic Imaging of Dipeptidyl Peptidase 4 Near-Infrared (NIR) chromophores with analyte tunable emission and absorption properties are highly desirable for developing activatable fluorescence and photoaccoustic (PA) probes for bioimaging and disease diagnosis.
Near-Infrared Fluorogenic Imaging of Carbon Monoxide in Live Cells Using Palladium-Mediated Carbonylation
Near-Infrared Fluorogenic Imaging of Carbon Monoxide in Live Cells Using Palladium-Mediated Carbonylation Here we develop a near infrared (NIR) fluorogenic probe for carbon monoxide (CO) detection and imaging based on palladium-mediated carbonylation using an NIR boron-dipyrromethene difluoride as a fluorophore and tetraethylene glycols as aqueous moieties. The probe is utilized to image exogenous and endogenous CO under different stimulated conditions in live cells.
Optimization and Validation of Reverse Transcription Recombinase-Aided Amplification (RT-RAA) for Sorghum Mosaic Virus Detection in Sugarcane
1. Introduction Sugarcane mosaic disease (SMD) is one of the most common sugarcane virus diseases. Current sugarcane viruses that can cause SMD include sorghum mosaic virus (SrMV), sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV), and sugarcane streak mosaic virus (SCSMV), with SrMV being the main pathogen causing SMD [1]. SrMV infects numerous gramineous plants, including sugarcane, corn, and sorghum, and is mostly spread through aphids in a non-persistent way [2].
Optimal Penetration Guidance Law for High-Speed Vehicles against an Interceptor with Modified Proportional Navigation Guidance
Abstract : Aiming at the penetration problem of high-speed vehicles against a modified proportional guidance interceptor, a three-dimensional mathematical model of attack–defense confrontation between the high-speed vehicle and the interceptor is established in this paper. The modified proportional navigation guidance law of the interceptor is included in the model, and control constraints, pitch angle velocity constraints, and dynamic delay are introduced.
Circadian clock protein Bmal1 accelerates acute myeloid leukemia by inhibiting ferroptosis through the EBF3/ALOX15 axis
Abstract Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a major leukemia with high mortality. Ferroptosis is an important regulator of cancers. However, the role of ferroptosis and its regulatory mechanisms in AML remain largely unknown. In this study, we reported elevated brain and muscle ARNT-Like protein-1 (Bmal1) expression in AML patients and cell lines, and its upregulation indicated the poor survival of patients.
Membrane-Tethered Activation Design of Photosensitizer Boosts Systemic Antitumor Immunity via Pyroptosis
Membrane-Tethered Activation Design of Photosensitizer Boosts Systemic Antitumor Immunity via Pyroptosis Pei Lu, Xianjun Liu, Xia Chu, Fenglin Wang and Jian-Hui Jiang Abstract Pyroptotic immunogenic cell death presents an emerging targeting pathway for cancer immunotherapy. We report a novel membrane-tethered activation design of photosensitizer (PS) that boosts systemic anti-tumor immunity to primary and distant tumors via pyroptosis induction.
Irisin rescues diabetic cardiac microvascular injury via ERK1/2/Nrf2/HO-1 mediated inhibition of oxidative stress
Abstract Aims Cardiac microvascular dysfunction is a common feature across cardiovascular complications in diabetes, while effective therapy remains elusive. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of irisin on cardiac microvascular injury in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods T2DM was induced in C57BL/6J mice. A cohort diabetic mice received a 12-week treatment of irisin. Cardiac function and microvessel density were evaluated.

An Intramolecular Charge Transfer and Excited State Intramolecular Proton Transfer based Fluorescence Probe for Highly Selective Detection and Imaging of Formaldehyde in Living Cells Wen Chen, Mei Yang, Na Luo, Fenglin Wang, Ruqin Yu and Jian-Hui Jiang Abstract Formaldehyde (FA), as a reactive carbonyl species, is endogenously generated in various biological processes. Abnormal levels of FA could lead to various cellular dysfunction and pathological conditions.
A Near Infrared Fluorescence Probe for Detection and Imaging Prolyl Aminopeptidase Activity in Living Cells
A Near Infrared Fluorescence Probe for Detection and Imaging Prolyl Aminopeptidase Activity in Living Cells Prolyl aminopeptidase (PAP) is an important exopeptidase which might be a biomarker for pathogen infection as well as a potential therapeutic target. However, very few fluorescence probes have been developed for detecting PAP activity. Here we report the development of the first near infrared (NIR) turn-on fluorescence probe (NIR-PAP) for detecting and imaging PAP in living cells.

A Novel Mitochondrial-Targeting Near-Infrared Fluorescence Probe for Imaging γ-Glutamyl Transpeptidase Activity in Living Cells
γ-Glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) plays an essential role in regulating cellular glutathione and cysteine homeostasis, and its abnormal elevation is associated with different diseases including cancers. Here a novel mitochondrial-targeting near-infrared fluorescence probe was designed for GGT by conjugating glutamate acid to a newly synthesized amine hemicyanine fluorophore.
Bright X-ray and up-conversion nanophosphors annealed using encapsulated sintering agents for bioimaging applications
Nanophosphors are promising contrast agents for deep tissue optical imaging applications because they can be excited by X-ray and near infrared light that penetrates deeply through tissue and generates almost no autofluorescence background in the tissue. For these bioimaging applications, the nanophosophors should ideally be small, monodispersed and brightly luminescent.
