Introduction Modern heart failure therapy has advanced considerably from prevention to pharmacologic and device treatment, leading to reduced mortality and morbidity. Unfortunately, heart failure is progressive despite optimal treatment, leaving cardiac transplantation or left ventricle assist devices as the only real option for many patients.
