Popular Summary While error-corrected quantum computers have asymptotic scaling advantages for simulating quantum systems, there are substantial overheads to ensure the computation is fault tolerant. To determine if quantum computers can provide a computational advantage at realistic system sizes, we must go beyond asymptotic analysis and determine the constant factors in quantum simulation algorithms.
