What was your first job as a journalist?

At University, I covered film.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. When I was a kid.

How is social media changing news?

Everyone is in a rush to scoop--to report ASAP--and to keep it short. The good news is that we are getting news as it happens.

Who's your favorite fictional journalist?

Kimberly Wells (Jane Fonda in THE CHINA SYNDROME).

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Today, that is very tricky question. It should mean reporting truth. Covering the facts and presenting them as objectively as possible.

Who do you wish followed you?

Jane Fonda. She has always been a hero of mine as a person, actor and activist.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did all 4 years. I was a co-editor.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

That's difficult. I am super proud of a piece I did on FILM STARS DON'T DIE IN LIVERPOOL featuring Annette Bening.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Seek the truth. Don't worry so much about click bait. Ask the hard questions. Be fair. And do your homework!!!

When's the best time to pitch you?

Weekday afternoons. EST.

What's your favorite drink?

Vino.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

At the movies...

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

That it's all fluff and innocuous reporting.
