How is social media changing news?
Immediate gratification! Everything is at your fingertips, literally.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Initial contact, always by email.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No... but after completing my second certification program, I worked for two radio stations years later but it was a paid position.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
The interviews I have done with celebrities and nfl legends over the years have been the most rewarding.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
The biggest move I ever made in my life was changing careers after two decades. My degree is in Education but I always had a dream of going into Broadcasting. I started small, creating my own website to feature my articles, while working for two local radio stations on the weekends for Cumulus Media. Then I transitioned into podcasting, which changed my life forever, interviewing major celebrities and professional athletes. I continued writing for NewsBreak, as well as appearing on television, on Fox's TMZ Live several times and things continued to grow from there.
Change can be scary, but nothing extraordinary happens in your comfort zone.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
We are bi coastal and love to travel; long weekend getaways, or fun day trips. We enjoy delicious meals at our favorite restaurants as well.
