A performance class is a chance to practise performance! When I introduced performance classes in my department, I knew it was the right thing to do but even I was shocked by the way in which the classes could be quite so helpful to students. I’ve triedvarious approaches over the years, and in this resource we’ll look at some of the successes and some of the things that did not work so well.

Our resource this month provides an overview of the music of Indonesia, part of South-East Asia. South-East Asia is a huge and culturally diverse region located between the Indian and Pacific Oceans, connecting East Asia, South Asia and the Oceanic countries such as Australia. Though much of it is mainland, it also contains vast island archipelagos, and there is huge variation in its language, religion, climate and culture.
