Commissioners OK budget that keeps tax levy at current rate

The Lee County commissioners adopted the 2026-27 budget at Monday's meeting. The budget totals $128,307,503 and keeps the property tax rate at 65 cents per $100 of assessed property value. The initial budget presented by County Manager Lisa Minter totaled $126,856,002 and raised the tax rate to 70 cents per $100 of assessed property value. However, at a June 5 budget workshop the commissioners instructed Minter to revise the budget without increasing the property tax.
