1. Introduction Obsidian artifacts have been found at many prehistoric archaeological sites in the central Mediterranean, while elemental analyses have separated the four island sources of Lipari, Palmarola, Pantelleria, and Sardinia. Important is that multiple subsources may be chemically distinguished for each of the islands, and there were changes in use over time, at least for Sardinia [1,2].
