Recent political advertisements in print and on electronic media by the authors of Amendment H portraits uniformed military personnel as being "silenced" and not allowed to vote in SD primary elections. While this narrative is a lie in many respects, it is probably expected given the out-of-state Marxist money behind the ads. But that aside, picturing military personnel in uniform in a political ad is either a violation of the Hatch Act or a case of stolen valor for the pictured people.

May 25, 2023 FORT PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota State Fire Marshal’s Office continues it’s investigation of a house explosion that killed a baby and her grandparents and left two young children hospitalized with burns. A house about 11 miles southeast of Fort Pierre exploded around 10:20 a.m. Wednesday. Stanley County Sheriff Brad Rathbun says 6-month-old Harper Hupp and her grandmother, LaDonna Hupp, 61, died at the scene. William Hupp, 66, died at a hospital.

With all of the hoopla being shown regarding the “very low” unemployment numbers in both South Dakota and the nation, there is a specific number that I wished would be made available to the public. That number is: the number of individuals holding more than one job. I am convinced that our unemployment numbers, in both S.D. and the nation, are somewhat misleading because of the fact that so many people are forced to hold down multiple jobs in order to bring in enough income to raise a family.

In a recent press release, Sen. John Thune said that one of the first pieces of legislation he introduced was his bill to repeal the death tax. He cited the American Farm Bureau saying thousands of South Dakota farms and ranches would be subject to the death tax today. This is blatantly untrue and Senator Thune must know that. There may be thousands of farms and ranches that pay some federal income tax, but only a very few would be subject to the inheritance tax.
