Interview
Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. And gallons of liquid paper - they went hand-in-hand, in the olden days.
Who's your favorite fictional journalist?
It's a toss-up between Lois Lane (she always made deadline), Andy Sachs (dealt with the Devil who wore Prada) and .. Ron Burgundy.
How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?
Email. No attachments. Links are ok.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Word. Skype. Dragon Naturally Speaking. iPhone. Facebook, twitter. Pen, paper. Grey matter. A strong sense of the absurd.
Why did you become a journalist?
For the fame, the money, the power, the influence and the extraordinary lifestyle. (I'm still waiting.)
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
Yes, I was editor and chief roneo-turner. ... Years later, I married the cartoonist, whose nude centrefold of Brother Justin was censored ..
