Frank Tang’s Biography

I am a reporter at Dow Jones Energy covering petroleum markets with a focus on downstream. I am a passionate story teller about the refining industry, crude and product derivatives, renewables and the spot, rack and retail fuel markets. I have in-depth knowledge about refined product pricing, margins and demand data.
I was formerly the lead editor of the OPIS Benchmark West Coast refined product pricing. I led a team pitching the benefits of trading jet fuels using OPIS benchmark pricing to the fuel-buying team of a major U.S. airline. I also hosted a webinar about West Coast fuel market dynamics.
Prior to OPIS, I was the precious metals and commodities correspondent at Reuters, where I covered the Chinese delegation at an IMF/World Bank meeting as well as CFTC hearings in Washington D.C., among other assignments. I was also part of the consumer goods and retail as well as breaking news team there.
I am fluent in written and spoken Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese. During the weekends, I am a contributor to youth sports by being a soccer referee and I also enjoy driving my EVs and play ice hockey for fun.
