There is something deeply poetic about a brand taking over the brick-and-mortar landscape of East London just twelve months after its inception. If you walk through Shoreditch or block down Brick Lane this week, you won’t just see the usual chaotic collage of gig posters and graffiti. Instead, you’re going to run into the unmistakable, high-contrast iconography of Yellow Studio.

Music and artistry form the very marrow of a musician. To create is to mine the depths of human emotion, tapping into the raw realities and visceral experiences of one’s own life journey. For an artist to truly transcend and step into the next epoch of their existence, they must eventually face an epiphany: a “road to Damascus” moment that fundamentally alters their trajectory.

A country progresses when its institutions define rules and guidelines that govern its mandate; these regulations apply to all organizations. As the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) approach, we are back to the same old cycle of debates regarding who truly deserves the crown; however, the reality remains that without ironclad, transparent criteria, we are just fighting in the dark. If the institutions themselves do not grasp their own objectives, how can they expect the culture to follow?
