All cities should help people move faster. Traffic paralysis imposes big costs on them in terms of money, physical and mental health, and economic opportunities. The economy as a whole suffers. Singapore, with a population of about 60 lakh, is a good proxy to evaluate Indian cities on efficient mobility. The rich island state measures the success of its urbanisation by calculating progress in the reduction in trip times (whether a traveller can get from point A to point B faster than at present).
