Does Nirmatrelvir/Ritonavir Influence the Immune Response against SARS-CoV-2, Independently from Rebound?

1. Introduction Nirmatrelvir is a recently discovered drug that inhibits SARS-CoV-2 main proteinase (Mpro), which is involved in processing the polyprotein precursors that are essential for viral production. Since Mpro activity is critical for the virus life cycle, its inhibition blocks viral replication []. Ritonavir is a strong CYP3A inhibitor that enhances the bioavailability of nirmatrelvir by slowing its metabolism through CYP34A.
