1. Introduction Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) is an arbovirus that belongs to the genus Alphavirus (family Togaviridae). The virions have a single-stranded and positive-sense RNA genome of approximately 11.5 kb in size, which is polyadenylated at the 3′ end and has a 7-methylguanosine cap at the 5′ end.
