Gabrielle E. Guz’s Biography

I was 18 when I interned as a metro desk reporter at the New York Times before going on to write and edit for other publications, including Brooklyn Eagle, Spectator, Kulture Hub, PAGE Magazine, and uInterview. Now, as a rising senior at Columbia University, my passion for story-telling has multiplied immeasurably; collaborating with other creatives to excavate the unknowns, the tensions, the questions, the lessons feels most gratifying.

What was your first job as a journalist?

Interning for the New York Times' metro desk as a pre-college student

Have you ever used a typewriter?

No, but I know that I'd be obsessed with it if I get it and start using it.

How is social media changing news?

While it makes news more accessible, it also has supplanted serious news with "what's trending." People are more likely to scan than to read.
