The  Hackensack City Council has decided to ask the park board for its opinion on whether or not  promotional banners  should be allowed on pickleball court fencing along First Street. At the June 8 council meeting, local businessmen Chuck Trosen and Jeff Randel suggested banners from local businesses be hung on the chain link fence for a limited time prior to special events. Each business (estimated at 20 or fewer) could design its own banner.

While major components of the Highway 371 reconstruction project are finished, Hackensack area residents have another  smaller construction project to face this summer. At the May 11 council meeting, a representative of Moore Engineering Inc. updated the council on the 2026 street project,  awarded to Young Excavating of Hackensack. Work should begin June 1 or sooner.

Hackensack American Legion Post 202’s Community Open House April 25 was a combination of celebration and invitation. Celebration highlighted the many activities and causes to which the Legion family contributes, while invitation reaches out to others to consider becoming members. From noon to 3 p.m., the post was filled, not just with members but also interested friends and neighbors who checked out several displays and demos.
