Cloud gaming levels up as GeForce NOW begins RTX 5080-class streaming next week
This week’s GeForce NOW Thursday showed up today packed with big news. You now get 1440p resolution (up from 1080p), support for those ultrawide monitors, and the ability to save your graphics settings across all your games.
Play the latest Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Chromebook as soon as it releases tonight
Being a gaming fan on a Chromebook can be frustrating when it comes to game realeases. Sure, we have lots of game streaming options, but most times we don’t see big titles launch on something like GeForce NOW at the same time as the big consoles. But that’s not what’s going on today! GeForce NOW officially announced that GeForce NOW users will be able to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 at the exact same time as every other platform the minute it launches later today. Yep, you read that right.

CES 2024 is upon us and news from all over the tech world is headed our way for the next few days. I just played The Finals on my Chromebook and it is awesome
If your feed looks anything like mine in Google Discover, X or YouTube, there’s a great chance that you’ve come across a new battle royale game called The Finals. Before today, I wasn’t entirely sure what the setup for this game was and how it would be different than something like Call of Duty: Warzone that is also playable on a Chromebook. But I quickly figured it out. I’m no game reviewer, so I’ll spare you any technical mumbo-jumbo about what The Finals does or doesn’t do well.

Playing Call of Duty: Warzone on a $149 Chromebook is still awesome
The other day, I hopped into a match of Call of Duty: Warzone just to hone my skills a bit, and to my surprise, I actually played quite well. I’ve been playing mobile games so much and rely so heavily on gyro aiming at this point that I’ve become largely useless when it comes to mouse/keyboard or controller movement. I want to get better, and GeForce NOW seems like the perfect way to do so.

No, you won’t get banned for playing Call of Duty on GeForce NOW
To be fair, bans were happening for certain. Over the weekend, fresh off the introduction of 3 Call of Duty titles on GeForce NOW (MW II, Warzone, and MW III), players were getting banned by the game’s built-in anti-cheat software. As you can expect, there was a fair bit of backlash about this and it seems Activision has moved quickly to remedy the problem. The rollback for players impacted by this issue has been completed.
I played COD:Warzone on a Chromebook, and there are some quirks you need to know about
Yesterday, Call of Duty: Warzone finally landed on GeForce NOW and you can play on your Chromebook. I was very, very excited by this and as soon as it became available for me (around 1PM yesterday), I set about the task of diving into a game that I knew very little about. Sure, I play COD:Mobile, but that’s a completely different thing. And right away, things were a bit strange.

Farlight 84, heir apparent to APEX Legends, has multiple ways to play on Chromebook
The Apex Legends Mobile era was far too short. While the desktop version continues to see plenty of player support, for some reason or another, the mobile version could not maintain enough of a player base to stick around. It’s sad because it was an immensely fun game that seemed to have plenty of fans and players across the board. Why it ultimately shut down this month will remain a bit of a mystery, but the fact remains: Apex Legends Mobile is no more.
