Last week I finally succumbed to the seemingly inevitable – I joined TikTok. While almost everyone around me joined in recent years, the thought of another piece of social media just felt like one too many. However, one particular aspect of TikTok has propelled me onto the platform – its relationship with modern journalism. TikTok received more traffic than Google in 2021, according to Cloudflare. In September, it hit 1 billion users worldwide. Same. Now on 62 mil views since I made my first TikTok.

I’ve lost count of the number of features and podcasts consumed on my many commutes, lazy Sundays and morning runs in the last 12 months. Looking back, a few have stood out. All of them read/listen just as well, if not even better, several months down the line. It’s an eclectic mix, but with one for everyone in the audience, I think… 1. ‘The Best Parties in Recent-ish Memory’ – Town & Country It’s safe to say our own “roaring twenties” have (thus far) been something of a letdown.
