This section explores two engineered factors, the disinfectant scheme and distribution system location, to determine their influence on DBP formation and toxicity. As discovered in the previous section, DOC was a strong factor influencing DBP concentrations, particularly for chloraminated systems. For that reason, DOC-normalized DBP concentrations were used to determine differences between primary disinfectants.
