Over the past 15 years, diagnostic, risk stratification, and therapeutic advances have transformed acute pulmonary embolism (PE) care. Yet, since the 2011 American Heart Association (AHA) scientific statement,1 no comprehensive update has been issued. In 2024, the AHA and American College of Cardiology (ACC) assembled a multidisciplinary committee of leaders from various societies to develop new guidelines on PE diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment.
