Have you ever used a typewriter?
Yes. I learned to type long before personal computers were widely known about.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
Being a journalist means you get a pass to see things as they happen. You have an obligation to bring people the facts because of this.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
I use a computer of course but I've found out over time that finding information using longhand methods are a lot more thorough than software
What's your favorite social network?
Twitter.
Why did you become a journalist?
I woke up one morning and the possibility of war breaking out in my neighborhood was very high. Protection for people relies on real facts.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
No.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
There have been a few. The Odessa Massacre in 2014. The DNC hacking and influence story. Finding out who is behind Propornot.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Grow a very thick skin and figure out why you want to get hit with sticks every day. Is that worth it for you? Congrats! You can be a journo.
When's the best time to pitch you?
We are GMT+2. Anytime during the day and into the evening.
What's your favorite drink?
Aged scotch.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Outside running around or working out.
What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The most common misperception is that there is a Russian invasion or Russian aggression happening here.
