I grew up in Lancaster city. My mom’s childhood was spent on a small farm with her six siblings. In 1950, at the end of my fourth grade, my aunt thought it would be beneficial for me to spend some time at my aunt and uncle’s farm. So that summer, at the age of 9, I started my rural adventure. I helped mow the yard, feed and water the chickens — along with gathering eggs — And helped my aunt in her vegetable garden. One day, my uncle asked me if I could do a special job for him.
