1. Introduction Bacon Hole is located within the parish of Pennard at NGR SS 5604 8682 (Figure 1), within the limestone cliffs of south Gower, overlooking the Bristol Channel (Plate 1). The site is included in Heneb’s (formally, the Glamorgan-Gwent Archaeological Trust (GGAT)) Historic Environment Record (PRN 00306w). Bacon Hole is not a Scheduled Monument; however, the site is located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
