This morning we watched some goats from the comfort of the barn, including the adventures of Tom Squirrel “mission impossible-ing” his way through the farm. It’s better than television. Small Axe Farms has a killer breakfast! I think it might be my favorite on trail so far. Everytime we stay at a hostel, we’re hiking out a little bit later. But luckily, the storm of yesterday blew the heat away, making for way more pleasant hiking.

Because of the firework show yesterday, we got into bed a little bit later than usual, which made us leave later than usual as well. 900 miles At mile 900,9 is still saw no sign. So, I decided to make my own! The constant heat of the last couple of days is starting to get to us. The hiking isn’t fun. You’re constantly sweating, worrying about water, and breathing heavy. We’re not loving it and some thoughts are becoming persistent.

We woke up early for a nice sunrise on top of the rock pile, and went back to the tent for a 15 minute snooze. Which turned into a full hour, oops. Second try for a milkshake The wayside is on our route again. This time we could just hike to it luckily. We still want that milkshake. And this time we got it! I have to say, they’re delicious! It’s again crazy hot today, so we decided to siesta a bit at the diner and hike out after 6 pm, when it’s less hot.
