Bravia 9 SDR calibration with spears and munsil bd
So working the basic settings with the spears and munsil bd tests and the blue filter glasses I’m having an issue I’d not had with my prior set ( the xbr8) .. getting the color settings adjusted. The screen with the color blocks and bars where you in blue only mode attempt to get the brightness of the blocks to match the bars under cyan magenta grey etc. I am not able to get a match in all 3 test bars at once.
Sony Center Sync Problems
Center Sync Problems. Grrr. this has happened intermittently over the prior months. The general use case is 1) YouTube app playing video podcasts from AppleTV 4K. 2) new Sony str-az3000es receiver 3) new Sony Bravia 9 K-75XR90 The center sync does pull up the sound and sounds great when it works. But occasionally the sound from center (tv ) speakers will sound very crackly and distorted and clicky.
Bizarre HDMI output signal from Oppo 83 to 4k
Got the new Bravia 9 mounted and installed and worked my way through to doing the video setup from the Oppo BD player. And am befuddled by what I see as this was working fine last week on the XBR8 that got replaced. All other hdmi sources seem to work just fine to the same one main Bravia 9 input. AppleTV, Xbox One, TiVo HD. The Oppo is plugged directly into the TV just to be sure. Trying the Oppo on my old Dell pc monitors hdmi input, there it displays fine, using the exact same HDMI cable.
Sony ES receivers - IR repeater functions?
#1 · Has anyone used the IR Repeater functions built into certain Sony ES receivers? I have a STR-DA3000ES that has this feature, and am considering buying a STR-DA4300ES that has the same. Both of these receivers have a IR REMOTE section, with one input, and two outputs. They look like mono minijacks. The manual only describes how you could put an IR receiver and connect it to the single input, then hide away the receiver and still send it commands. But they give no specs or any other information.
Odd hdmi controll interaction between devices.
Just having upgraded my receiver to a 2023 model that has hdmi based control capability , I’ve now got the tv the receiver and the AppleTV all connected by hdmi. but the interaction is odd and I’m wondering which device , or is it limitations of the control system? all 3 devices off. turn on the TV with the IR remote. It turns on the receiver that it is connected to. The AppleTV doesn’t wake up. Manually turn on the AppleTV. now all 3 devices on. Using it remote , turn off the tv.
Moving from 5.1.2 to 5.1.4 - which of the 2 choices: front high or mid ceiling?
So I have the black setup at present a 5.1.2, with the .2 being in ceiling just behind the two seated positions., the surrounds being just behind and to the side angled in, and the front LCR setup as is with the single subwoofer off to the side aimed inward toward the screen (reasons). The new receiver I'll be getting replaces my 22 year old Sony DA4ES (a 5.1.1 ) with the new Sony AZ3000ES (a 5.1.4).
