Controlling the flow of energy and heat at the microscale is crucial to achieve energy-efficient quantum technologies, for on-chip thermal management, and to realize quantum heat engines and refrigerators. Yet, the efficiency of current quantum technologies is affected by thermal noise, and efficient cooling of quantum devices remains challenging in various solid-state implementations such as superconducting circuits.

Abstract Topological photonics offers the opportunity to control light propagation in a way that is robust from fabrication disorders and imperfections. However, experimental demonstrations have remained on the order of the vacuum wavelength. Theoretical proposals have shown topological edge states that can propagate robustly while embracing deep subwavelength confinement that defies diffraction limits.

Cavity embedding is an emerging paradigm for the control of quantum matter, offering avenues to manipulate electronic states and potentially drive topological phase transitions. In this work, we address the stability of a one-dimensional topological superconducting phase to the vacuum quantum fluctuations brought by a global cavity mode.
