Have you ever used a typewriter?
When my grandad picked me up from school, we'd go back to his flat, sweeties in hand, he'd make us tea and I'd bash out stories.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
To tell stories and explain things.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
Pen, shorthand notepad, phone, word processor, the internet, and Adobe Creative Suite.
What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?
Get work experience in a news room. Email the editor and ask to come in. Be punctual, be proactive, listen carefully and ask questions.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
My dad would give Phil Mitchell a run for his money, he's faked his own death three times.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?
The most common misconception about local news is that it is easy or boring. The local beat is where human lives collide with larger forces.
