Multimedia reporter and production journalist sourcing stories, interviewing, and writing copy for STV News.
Previous bylines in The Herald, The National, The Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald, The Irvine Times, The Ayr Advertiser, The Cumnock Chronicle, Clydebank Post and Dumbarton Reporter.
I also shoot and edit video for online and screen, and source, record and edit audio for radio and podcasting.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

When my grandad picked me up from school, we'd go back to his flat, sweeties in hand, he'd make us tea and I'd bash out stories.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

To tell stories and explain things.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

Pen, shorthand notepad, phone, word processor, the internet, and Adobe Creative Suite.

IRN News Awards

2020 - Finalist for Student Journalist of the Year

The IRN News Awards celebrate news and sports journalism in commercial radio, recognising reporting, presentation, production, interviews, features and campaigns. The nominations were announced by Sky News presenter Kay Burley who will host the event at Sky Cinema in west London on Thursday 26th March 2020. There are 12 categories including the Student Journalist of the Year prize which is supported by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council

The NCTJ Awards for Excellence recognise the achievements of talented individuals with promising journalism careers ahead of them. I won the student multimedia story award for episode one of my podcast, Democracy On Your Doorstep.

The annual Scottish Student Journalism Awards offer student journalists across Scotland a chance to showcase their work. On 30 May 2019, GEMS joined the SSJA at their awards ceremony for a night of celebration of Scottish student journalism. This award was won for Democracy On Your Doorstep.
