Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

Lightning.News took a chance on me.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, actually. I miss them.

How is social media changing news?

Social media IS the news now. News has always been about "the scoop" and breaking no longer waits until the nightly news cast.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Putting the best facts, thoughts, and takes down for others to form their own opinion. I'm here to present a story and the reader interpret.

What's the funniest news-related #hashtag you've seen?

#parentingfails has to be the best. As a girl-dad, these hit home.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

Stories and other pitches should be concise and pointed. I write in series so it has to fit what I'm currently writing about or planning to.

What tools and software do you use to do your job?

I endeavor to do most of the writing myself but I like to use Claude to assist.

What's your favorite social network?

NOSTR is where real innovation in social networking is occuring. The content is thin but the technology behind it is driving outcomes.

Who do you wish followed you?

There are several folks on Bloomberg, Fox Business, and CNBC that I'd love some attention from, haha.

Why did you become a journalist?

Writing came to me later in life. I use to resist it, feeling no one would read anyway. This changed when I started writing for myself, only.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

No. Unfortunately writing and editing interest presented to themselves to me later in life.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Right, The Bitcoin Commons. This is a major movement in Fintech software and Bitcoin that I'm covering from the inside.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Just write and edit. Use AI if you have to but just start getting words down, reading them to edit, and progressing your content.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Reaching me on Telegram or Signal early in the AM EST is best.

What's your favorite drink?

Celsius Peach Vibe withdrawals are real.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Outside for a run or at the park with my kid. Got to touch grass daily.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

Bitcoin and its surrounding technologies are undervalued. The movements inside are deep and the actors interesting and complex.
