We learned yesterday of the passing of Duane Michals. There is so much to say about Duane, and yet, why should we? His images speak for themselves, for him; beyond the legendary photographer, he was a poet, a surrealist one who invited us for decades in his world where we, at turns, could be amused, surprised, challenged but always touched. Back in 2012, L’Oeil de la Photographie (at the time La Lettre) dedicated a whole edition to celebrate Duane 80th birthday.

Yesterday was the last of The Photography Show presented by AIPAD. 5 days filled with thousand of photographs, hundred of encounters old and new in the alleys of The Armory. This was a “good vintage” where classic and contemporary seem to have found a balance and co-exist and no, the announced tsunami of AI didn’t land to our shores. This few lines were going to open a review on The Show, then serendipity happened.
