Background Patients frequently present to general practice with a range of complex lower limb wounds, vascular concerns, or a combination of these two concerns. Lower limb wounds include cuts, grazes, diabetic foot ulcers, pre-tibial lacerations and leg ulcers. A leg ulcer is defined as a break in the skin below the knee that has failed to heal within two weeks (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) 2020).
