1. Introduction Oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) represents a significant global cancer burden, accounting for over fifty thousand new diagnoses per year in the United States [1], with an estimated cancer-specific mortality of around 30% [2,3,4,5]. The tongue is affected in up to 50% of all cases [6], demonstrating a tendency for local tissue and regional lymphatic spread early in the course of the disease. As of today, a few issues in the management of OSCC can be disclosed.
