Welcome to a new ERA of reproducible publishing
By Emmy Tsang and Giuliano Maciocci Since 2017, we have been working on the concept of computationally reproducible papers. The open-source suite of tools that started life as the Reproducible Document Stack is now live on eLife as ERA, the Executable Research Article, delivering a truly web-native format for taking published research to a new level of transparency, reproducibility and interactivity.
Iran's miscalculation
It is hard to understand Iran Supreme Leader Khamenei’s blunder in attacking the US Embassy in Baghdad. He either believed Trump was weakened by his impeachment, as western liberal Media breathlessly and continuously reported, or he might have been misled by John Kerry’s incompetent advice (apparently Kerry met again with Khamenei’s emissaries in Paris just few weeks ago).
Reproducible Document Stack: towards a scalable solution for reproducible articles
By Giuliano Maciocci, Emmy Tsang, Nokome Bentley and Michael Aufreiter In February, eLife introduced its first computationally reproducible document, based on a research article originally published in the Reproducibility Project: Cancer Biology by Tim Errington, the Director of Research at the Center for Open Science.
Introducing eLife’s first computationally reproducible article
By Giuliano Maciocci, Michael Aufreiter and Nokome Bentley In September 2017 eLife announced the start of the Reproducible Document Stack (RDS) project, a collaboration between Substance, Stencila and eLife to support the development of an open-source technology stack aimed at enabling researchers to publish reproducible manuscripts through online journals.

It might seem a banality to say the World is changing, but the World is changing: rapidly, inevitably, sometimes unpredictably and painfully. Those who don't realize it, acknowledge it, and adapt, risk being overtaken by history. In Europe and America we have seen rejection of the old way of doing things.
