The challenges faced by local media organizations over the past decade are well known to many people, and despite the best efforts of the Merrimack Valley Media Group Inc. team, we have made the decision to suspend publication of Merrimack Valley Magazine and our related digital products as of Dec. 31, 2021.

Dear Readers, When I conceived of Merrimack Valley Magazine 15 years ago, I didn’t know if anyone in the region wanted or needed the publication I envisioned. My long commutes to Boston to sell ads for other people’s family-owned media companies had lost their appeal. It was time to do something new, local and more fulfilling. So I launched MVM on a hunch and a prayer. Twenty years earlier, I emigrated to the Merrimack Valley from New York to be with a girl (still with her).

On the morning of Oct. 16, we met the senator at the western border of the commonwealth. The we in question was myself and Glenn Prezzano, the owner and publisher of this magazine. And the senator was Diana DiZoglio, who serves the First Essex District in the state legislature. When we arrived, she had just been dropped off by one of her colleagues, state Sen. Adam Hinds, who represents the Berkshire, Hampshire, Franklin and Hampden District in Western Mass.
