Revitalize your business - PrintAction
It’s been a difficult year for many companies, with decline in sales reported by businesses from across Canada. There are fewer jobs to quote and the work that is available is often for lower quantities or fewer pages than previous requests. Some businesses plan for reduced work from customers as a normal business practice. For example, if you want to increase your sales by 5 per cent next year, you need to identify and win at least 10-15 per cent of new business.

Business growth through acquisition
Companies need to evolve and grow in order to thrive. Maintaining status quo may provide regular income, but since most business relationships are not static, new customers are needed, new services should be offered, equipment needs to be replaced, and re-investment is required. Organic growth is good, but faces constant challenges, especially with our current substrate supply issues. Merger or acquisition are options, but also face many challenges and risks.
Paper supply: Crisis or opportunity?
Much has been written about the paper supply chain issues and shortages, but are there aspects of the situation that can actually be turned into an advantage? Let’s explore the situation, and identify some opportunities.
Forming an exit strategy
When is the right time to sell, merge or exit the printing business? The adage ‘buy low and sell high’ may be the ideal, but in today’s volatile economy, that lofty goal may not be possible for many. M+A activity and Canadian business insolvencies fell 24 per cent annually in 2020. The majority of the credit is due to government subsidy programs, which have helped those with weaker balance sheets weather the storm.

The Drive Towards an Acceptable Level of Safety (ALOS)
Over the past few weeks, I have expressed my opinions in what I consider is a realistic yet simplistic approach towards safety. My interpretation is aimed at improving aviation safety and how it should be recognised and effectively implemented into the workplace. In this instance, to guide and support airport management and staff from theory to day to day reality, with due recognition and acceptance of where responsibility and accountability lies.
Understanding safety procedures is critical as passenger numbers increase
When I am instructing, my opening line to airport executives is: “You think it is busy now, just wait and see what is around the corner.” The predicted growth of worldwide passenger handling is expected to double from three and a half billion to over seven billion over the next decade or so and this increase will create a need for airport safety operations to be meticulously monitored and addressed.
Staff Development Programme (SDP)
The passenger growth of the aviation industry is predicted to double within the next 14 years, to seven and a half billion. World class airports can expect to witness continuous and substantial incremental passenger growth, as well as the necessity for additional/expanded infrastructure to cater for the increased demand.
