Belles Held Back by Brits in Season Finale
ALBION, Mich. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team came up on the short end of a 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-13) final at Albion in the Belles' season finale on Saturday. Albion jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first set before extending their advantage to 13-3. Caroline Carens put down a kill, and Carens and Cali Allen teamed up for a block to get a pair of points on the scoreboard for the Belles.
Season Comes to Close in Setback Against No. 22 Brits
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team saw their season come to an end in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-8, 25-13) setback against No. 22 ranked Albion on Senior Day on Saturday. The energy was high and the competition was tight throughout the entire first set of action. The two sides matched each other point for point early in the first stanza before Albion gained a four-point edge at 11-7. With the Brits up 13-9 a few points later, Cali Allen started a scoring spurt with a kill for the Belles.
Belles Out-Dueled by Thunder in Conference Clash
ANGOLA, Ind. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team was on the wrong side of a 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-17) conference match at Trine on Saturday afternoon. The host Thunder jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the opening set, but the Belles battled their way right back into the thick of things as a 6-0 run tied the score at 9-9. Cali Allen started the run with a kill, served an ace, and Colleen McCarthy put away two kills to give Saint Mary's a burst of momentum.
Belles volleyball drops three matches in weekend series
The 3-2 Saint Mary’s College volleyball team headed into Angola, Indiana, Friday to compete in the MIAA/NCAC Crossover Tournament at Trine University’s MTI Center. The Belles could not have gotten the results they hoped for this weekend, dropping all three matches against DePauw University, The College of Wooster and Hiram College. On the tournament’s first day, Saint Mary’s was tripped up against DePauw in a 3-1 contest.
