What was your first job as a journalist?
Staff writer at my university's student-run newspaper.
How is social media changing news?
Social media floods the consumer with information, which is not always accurate, but it allows people to do their own research.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means telling the truth. It means limiting your own bias to inform the reader so they can formulate their own opinion with all the facts.

Why did you become a journalist?
To tell the truth. To advocate for small voices that aren't heard from nearly enough. To prove to myself that journalism isn't dead.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I tested out of high school when I was 15 and went straight to community college so I didn't have the pleasure.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
I wrote a piece on the importance of thought diversity on college campuses. The final draft was 13 pages and I conducted over 12 interviews.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
Taking photographs of protests or trying to nail down a story.
