Harnessing New Technologies for Mapping Montserrat’s Marine Megafauna
About This Project In a first for the island, a locally-led initiative will survey Montserrat's marine environment, to identify the presence/diversity of megafauna. While some monitoring of Montserrat's marine biodiversity has been carried out via fisheries landing surveys, information is limited, due to a lack of affordable tools and locally based scientific expertise. Using low-cost tools and cutting-edge analysis we aim to gather baseline data cost-effectively to inform ocean management.
Primary Appendiceal Adenocarcinoma Masquerading as Acute Appendicitis: A Case Report
Introduction Appendectomy for acute appendicitis is the most performed surgery in the United States, with approximately 300,000 operations performed each year [1]. Of the specimens sent to pathology following these operations, appendiceal malignancy accounts for only 0.5%-1% [2]. Epithelial neoplasms are seen in 0.2%-0.3% of appendectomy specimens, while neuroendocrine tumors are seen in 0.3%-0.9% of specimens [3].
The Association Between Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound and Near-Infrared Spectroscopy-Derived Measures of Calf Muscle Microvascular Responsiveness in Older Adults
Background and Aim Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) measures of post-occlusion skeletal muscle microvascular responsiveness demonstrate the microvascular dysfunction associated with ageing and age-related disease. However, the accessibility of CEUS is limited by the need for intravenous administration of ultrasound contrast agents and sophisticated imaging analysis. Alternative methods are required for the broader assessment of microvascular dysfunction in research and clinical settings.
Reply to Satoshi Funada, Takashi Yoshioka, and Yan Luo’s Letter to the Editor re: Marcus J. Drake, Amanda L. Lewis, Grace J. Young, et al. Diagnostic Assessment of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms in Men Considering Prostate Surgery: A Noninferiority Randomis
We are grateful for the constructive interest in the UPSTREAM study [], which was a noninferiority trial evaluating a diagnostic pathway including urodynamics (UDS) against a diagnostic pathway without routine UDS as the comparator. The noninferiority design assesses whether a new treatment is no worse than the current treatment by at least a predefined amount and potentially has other advantages, such as a better safety profile or lower costs [ 2 Wangge G. Klungel O.H. Roes K.C. de Boer A.
Diagnostic Assessment of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms in Men Considering Prostate Surgery: A Noninferiority Randomised Controlled Trial of Urodynamics in 26 Hospitals
Abstract Background Prostate surgery can improve lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) by relieving bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). However, surgery is less effective without BOO, or if detrusor underactivity is present. Urodynamics (UDS) can identify BOO and measure detrusor activity, but evidence in clinical practice is lacking.
Cashew Chicken
This cashew chicken is close to the real Cantonese deal. It calls for chicken thighs, ginger, and garlic to be stir-fried with sugar snaps and carrots in a simple, barely there sauce made with rice vinegar and soy sauce. Done in 30 minutes. And darn near keto.
The ProtecT trial: analysis of the patient cohort, baseline risk stratification and disease progression
Abstract Objective To test the hypothesis that the baseline clinico‐pathological features of the men with localized prostate cancer (PCa) included in the ProtecT (Prostate Testing for Cancer and Treatment) trial who progressed (n = 198) at a 10‐year median follow‐up were different from those of men with stable disease (n = 1409).

And we wanted her to once again recount the role of the beloved Kitchen God and the rituals surrounding his appearance and the preparations for Chinese New Year.
A wild and entertaining tour through the winners of the annual 101-Word Short Story Contest.
Editor's NoteIn some ways, we never know what we’re going to get, with certain years taking on themes that can be tricky to predict: One year might involve a lot of mutilation, another psychedelia, another wicked family drama. In other ways, we very much know what to expect: Every year will bring stories that make the members of the judging team wince, moan, LOL and say versions of “WTF?!” to no one in particular.
A computational model of 1,5‐AG dynamics during pregnancy
AbstractThe importance of 1,5?anhydroglucitol (1,5?AG) as an intermediate biomarker for diabetic pregnancy is multi?fold: (1) it serves as a reliable indicator of moderate?level glycemic control, especially during early gestation; (2) it has been associated with increased risk of diabetes, independent of HbA1c and fasting glucose; and (3) it is an independent risk factor for the development of eclampsia during pregnancy.
Consider These 4 Thai Condiments Your Kitchen’s Secret Weapons
To say that the Thai people love condiments and relishes is a big understatement: There are too many to count, and parodies have been written about how incredibly vast the category is. Take the late M.R. Kukrit Pramoj’s in One Thousand and One Nights. In this version, our Scheherazade was a young consort of an imaginary Thai king who lived in ancient times.
