1. Introduction Nature-based tourism (NBT) is a form of tourism in which travelers are attracted to a specific destination because of that environment’s natural and often unique features (e.g., wildlife, mountains, glaciers) [1]. A subset of NBT is mountain tourism, an ‘activity that takes place in a defined geographical space, such as hills or mountains, with distinctive characteristics and attributes inherent to the landscape, topography, climate, biodiversity and local community’ [2].
